Last updated: June 2026 — Applies to all apps and the mycinematools.com website.
The short version
Our apps are reference and educational tools. We work hard to keep the data accurate, but we cannot guarantee it. You use our apps to inform your decisions — not to replace professional judgment. We are not liable for errors, and we are not liable for how you use the information.
Reference and educational use only
All apps published by My Cinema Tools, LLC are intended for reference and educational purposes. This includes camera specifications, codec data, color science tools, calculators, timing tools, and any other data or outputs produced by our apps.
Information provided by our apps should be used to inform your professional or personal decision-making, not as a sole or authoritative source. Always verify critical data — especially on professional productions where accuracy affects safety, scheduling, or deliverables.
Accuracy and errors
We take data accuracy seriously. Camera and codec specifications are sourced from manufacturer documentation. Color science calculations follow published standards. We beta test our apps with real users on real productions before release.
That said, specifications change, standards evolve, and errors can occur. We make no warranty — expressed or implied — that any information in our apps is complete, current, or free from errors.
Per-app context:
- Color Decision, My CDL Tools — Color grades produced or displayed are for reference. Final color decisions should be made with a calibrated monitor and a qualified colorist.
- My Cinema Tools — Camera, lens, and codec data are sourced from manufacturer specs. Verify directly with the manufacturer or rental house for production-critical decisions.
- EDL to CDL Tools — Parsed data depends on the source EDL file conforming to the CMX 3600 standard. Malformed files may produce incorrect results. Always verify output against your source.
- Kanji Time, Mochi Jikan — Language content and timer functions are for personal education and training use. Not a substitute for formal instruction.
No warranty
Our apps are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the apps will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, My Cinema Tools, LLC and its owner shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — our apps or any information they provide.
Beta testing disclosure
Some apps may be available in beta form via Apple TestFlight prior to their App Store release. Beta software may contain bugs, incomplete features, or data errors. Beta participants accept additional risk associated with pre-release software.
In-app purchases and pricing
Some apps are free with an optional tip jar powered by Apple StoreKit. Others offer a one-time PRO upgrade. All purchases are processed by Apple. We do not process payment information directly. We reserve the right to change pricing at any time; existing purchases are not affected.
Third-party services
Our apps are distributed through the Apple App Store. Downloads and purchases are subject to Apple’s terms of service. Our website may use Formspree to process contact form submissions. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or tracking SDKs in our apps.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our apps constitutes acceptance of any updated terms.
